چکیده

Abstract This work proposes a finite volume scheme for two-phase Darcy flow in heterogeneous porous media with different rock types. The fully implicit discretization is based on cell-centered, as well face-centered degrees of freedom order to capture accurately the nonlinear transmission conditions at type interfaces. These play major role dynamics. formulated natural physical unknowns, and notion global pressure only introduced analyze its stability convergence. It combines two-point flux approximation gradient normal fluxes Hybrid Upwinding transport terms. convergence weak solution established taking into account discontinuous capillary interfaces degeneracy phase mobilities. Numerical experiments show additional robustness proposed compared classical Phase Potential approach.

Finite volume approximation for an immiscible two-phase flow in porous media with discontinuous capillary pressure

We consider an immiscible incompressible two-phase flow in a porous medium composed of two different rocks so that the capillary pressure field is discontinuous at the interface between the rocks. This leads us to apply a concept of multi-valued phase pressures and a notion of weak solution for the flow which have been introduced in [Cancès & Pierre, SIAM J. Math. Anal, 44(2):966–992, 2012]. We...

Finite volume scheme for two-phase flow in heterogeneous porous media involving capillary pressure discontinuities

We study a one dimensional model for two-phase flows in heterogeneous media, in which the capillary pressure functions can be discontinuous with respect to space. We first give a model, leading to a system of degenerated non-linear parabolic equations spatially coupled by non linear transmission conditions. We approximate the solution of our problem thanks to a monotonous finite volume scheme. ...

Numerical Treatment of Two-phase Flow in Capillary Heterogeneous Porous Media by Finite-volume Approximations

This paper examines two-phase flow in porous media with heterogeneous capillary pressure functions. This problem has received very little attention in the literature, and constitutes a challenge for numerical discretization, since saturation discontinuities arise at the interface between the different homogeneous regions in the domain. As a motivation we first consider a one-dimensional model p...
